When I became a mother 11 years ago, there was a very real but at the time imperceptible ‘split' within me: on one hand, there was the woman who had big dreams and goals and identified with her purpose in the world, and on the other hand, there was the newborn mother. And it has taken me more than a decade to understand: it is this split that has been the hardest part to reconcile.
